I think (without having the foresight to know exactly what would play out) they wanted no excuse for Portis to be anywhere around the rim incase he didn't switch off the screen....and IF he did switch and Hornsby and Patterson are no longer options, they would have a 3rd option from three in Martin.

Coach Jones likes to leave 0% chance to lose the game in those situations. A charge sends Arkansas to the line and a made layup leaves a second or two on the clock.

He plays the last play of the half the same way. He would settle for a 5% shot if he had to make sure the other team can't answer.
