One gate I've seen had a small sign attached that said to open this gate in emergencies yelp like a dog for 6 seconds. no lie. I've never tried it but was always curious.

I've seen that too. Most say "Emergency Vehicles, Yelp for entry" I always wondered if they play their sirens it will open upon that sound?

Many gated communities also have it set up so the responder can just "yelp" the sirens to override the gate
