Beavis and Butthead was pretty bad. And I am sure the much older crowd were flabbergasted by The Simpsons when it came out. Homer was choking out his own 10 year-old son in the first season - a far cry from The Jetsons or The Flintstones.

The Simpsons wasn't absurd though. They just had more adult-oriented humor.
