How would you rank him, defense only, for LSU shortstops? For me, He might barely crack the top 5.

Defense only, I would agree. Top 5 or 6 but that is pretty damn good.

When we say rank him defense only among LSU shortstops and barely cracking the top 5, are we talking about in LSU history or the 20 or so years we may be old enough to pass judgement on?

Because top 5 for one of those may be "decent", but top 5 in the other would be pretty damn outstanding.

Most underrated player in LSU baseball history is Jason Williams... at the time he graduated he had LSU's all time best single season fielding percentage at both SS and 3B. Dude was a vacuum. He had the all time SEC career record for runs scored and hits until Furnice broke it. Also at that time Bertman said he was the best clutch hitter he's ever coached. Yet he's rarely mentioned by fans as an all time great.
