Never heard of this story, but would throw a wrinkle into a lot of folks' theories in this thread.

Conspiracy to commit murder is a well known crime

I'm unaware of conspiracy to suicide in the common or civil law tradition however

Of course, actively helping someone kill themselves just falls under murder/manslaughter whatever.

In fact, Kevorkian only got jailed when he was proven to be physically present at one of his patient's suicides IIRC. Before that he merely advised them on how best to do it.
