Marino was throwing it 50 times back then. That's why he put up great numbers. His attempts wouldn't go up. Do we think his completion percentage would go up? 5 points. 10 points?

The bottom line is that Marino was great. But, he's not in a different league than Rodgers, Manning, etc. Marino had a TON of padded stats.

If Manning and Rodgers aren't putting up those numbers...neither would Marino.

Also, while the rules have changed to favor the offensive passing game, the sophistication of the passing offenses has evolved well beyond the Marino years.
