They were a 70's 3 piece hard rock band from Wales. Metallica sighted them as one of their influences and covered 2 songs on their Garage Inc. album, "Breadfan" and "Crash Course in Brain Surgery".

Dude Budgie are the maddddd notes...They were as heavy as Black Sabbath back in the day and they drew a lot off of each other. A friend of mine showed them to me about 3 years ago and I loved what I heard.
Still think there debut album is one of the best debut's for any band ever. First track: Budgie - Guts
Are you just getting started or trying to spread the knowledge?
ETA: look at that f'ing album cover

Sad to say I'm old enough that I was listening to them in the 70's. Just trying to spread the word, because I always thought they were very under the radar considering how good they were, and I recently started listening to them again. It holds up.

Been a fan for awhile now. Running From My Soul is just about as heavy as anything from the 70s could be. The decent level of production on their classic albums is a surprise too.
I they had more stuff available on video. YouTube is bereft for the most part.

WOW, never thought I would see someone talking about Budgie. What a band. One of my most underrated bands of all time. Thanks for bringing them up. They bring it.

Just curious, how old are you? Metallica recorded those years before they were included on Garage Inc. For instance, Crash Course was on Garage Days Re-revisited from 1987, I believe. Garage Inc. came out in 1998.
Metallica's version of Breadfan is incredible.

This post is about Budgie, not about me. Why do you care how old I am? None of that matters.

Sorry, it didn't come off right. I really do want to know...which generation are you? My reason for asking is I'm very happy if the current generation is "going back and discovering Metallica" (ugh, makes me sad just to type that). It just struck me that Garage Inc. is already 17 years old, so that must seem like ancient history to a young person...even though the songs you referenced were recorded (as covers!) more than 25 years ago.
No offense intended.

No worries.
I'm from the 70's generations and was listening to Budgie back then. I just think their music still holds up today, and trying to get the word out on it.
