I take it you don't watch very much basketball.

Just general reading. I know bats were heavier, pitchers on speed alone were slower on average, but they also pitched longer innings, however they did have the spit ball. I know Babe Ruth's swing was different, but I think he would be a great hitter today or back then. There were less athletes to choose from bc of racial barriers. Just in general when only comparing Babe Ruth's Era to today it is clearly a step above. I think when you get into the 50's-60's the gap start narrowing greatly. I think there were athletes back then that would be better than athletes now with modern training, but personally comparing pitching back then to now I believe would not be close.

I watch enough, and played it enough to know what's within the rules and what's theatrics, sort of like professional wrestling

You meant 100 yards? Dude, for future reference when people talk about 100 times they are talking about meters. Just saying.

In baseball they would be fine because everyone played so much, Americans then were like Dominicans are now. Pitching would be fine with the training we have today. IMO its the only sport that could stand the test of time.

One of Cy Young's first MLB catchers put a beefsteak in his glove for extra cushioning against Young's fastball - 125 years ago.

Cannon's 9.4 equals 10.27 perhaps a little faster. That's pretty damn fast.

What? Its evolution peptides, don't act like you don't know.

No doubt, it would probably make him the fastest white dude in the world at the time if true. I am pretty sure less than 5 white dudes have ever done better than a 10 in the 100 meters all-time while close to 100 black dudes have done it.

I know two white dudes that have run sub 10.4
My dad in the seventies, and his old man could out run him bare foot and my current neighbor. They out there.

my Dad ran a 9.9(yds.) at LSU, I ran a 9.9 in hs on a bet

Sub 10.4 sure, sub 10 no way. It is a HUGE milestone that is so hard to reach for whites that I guarantee you that you if you counted the # of white guys who did it on your fingers you would have fingers remaining. Meters, not yards.
