I got one after beating the main story. I didn't even know they existed. What are they used for?

I believe they are used to unlock the super Saiyan saga to get Broly and Bardock. You get one for beating the game and right after a patrolled outside the gate gives you one if you tak to him. I think one more is in a quest.
