Ray Charles could have seen Clowney as a bust.
Too many GMs don't have any balls, and make their first pick decisions based on measurables/draft analysts alone.

No one thinks like that when their livelyhood is at stake. You pick the guy that looks as though he should be able to be a great NFL player. No one is going to get fired over Clowney flaming out. When you look at him, he should be a good NFL player.
GMs that last in this league build their resume off of safe picks. Then when they've earned some respect from ownership, they can take risks.
Drafting with balls is all well and good, except for when you miss. That's what gets people canned quickly.
