I went to school with Patrick at LSU back in the day. He's been angling for that job since the day he walked through the door as a freshman.
My take on him is that he's a good play by play guy who doesn't have an ideal voice. He's also a little too "formal" for the LSU crowd, which generally likes a more laid-back approach. Not the "warmest" guy in the world. He would have to be paired with a very experienced and polished color guy.
That being said, you couldn't find a guy more dedicated to his craft. The dude was probably working on play by play skills in his bathroom while everyone else was at prom. I would like to see LSU continue to give him games here and there. I don't think he's "the" guy, though.
