I feel like every Zelda game catches a ton of hate from the "hardcore" fans and then like 5-10 years later its suddenly one of everyone's favorite in the series.

Majora's Mask is in that category too. I feel like if they do an HD Wii U version of Twilight then it will be in that category.

Wind Waker is different though because Nintendo began by putting out badass pictures of Gannon and Link in a style similar to OoT and MM and then went with the cartoon style.
I refused to play the game for a long time because of the drastic change and disappointment. If Nintendo doesn't begin by saying the game would look like OoT and MM then I think Wind Waker would have been received better.
