I like the tone and plot in Majora's Mask but the repetitive aspect of the groundhog day situation is just too tedious. Plus the time limit is a pain in the arse.

The time limit isn't that much of a pain in the arse. Just play the Song of Inverted Time, and then you get 3 hours to complete a cycle. After that, do the quests required before the Temple, get the song, and awaken the Owl Statue, and then rewind time. Do the Song of Inverted Time again, teleport to the Temple, and then you've got 3 hours to beat it. When has it ever taken more than 3 hours for you to beat a Zelda Temple? It doesn't take as long as you think.

Only time it was a pain in the arse is with the Mountain Temple, since in order to get your sword upgraded, you need all 3 days to do it, thus giving you less than an hour to beat the Temple. You take more than an hour (which is just about guaranteed), then you've got to rewind time, kill the boss again, and then get your sword upgraded. That one was the only instance the time constraints fricked with me, but the boss is fun as hell, so I don't mind it that much.

Not to mention the lack of direction in the game. I have no idea how anyone could get some of the masks or fairies without a guide, especially with the time limit resetting shite

The Bomber's Notebook is your friend. Granted, I thought where they put the Stone Mask was total bullshite, and apparently the creators agreed, although there should still be some more hints on where to look at an individual invisible soldier than the game provides. All Night's Mask took me a while to remember how to get it as well, since I forgot to save Granny the first night do a while. Should let that mask purchasable regardless on the final night.

And I just replayed it for the first time in like 5 years, and I only remembered the position of like 3 or 4 Fairies. Just use the Great Fairy's Mask, look for treasure chests on map, and they're not THAT hard to find.

Is that how it works? Every time I played it felt like nothing happens
