I use the AT&T Uverse router to link all of our iphones, ipads, and my two iMacs to the apple airport. One iMac has 1400+ lossless (redbook) albums (external HD) that are transmitted to the airport bit correct via the selection on my devices. Airport to DAC via a 1m glass optical cable, then analog out to my integrated, which also has inputs from the 'cable' box and a direct 3.5 mm for devices not on my network (DVD to DAC since I like concert DVDs). Audio from any apple device can go direct as well via airplay.
It's not the same as a Sonos, though used in an identical manner as to how I'd use it.
ETA: And I come home and my wife is listening to it, so it's THAT easy to work. One button, one switch...
