I will say I've seen Kickstarter/GoFund be used for some good things. I have a coworker whose wife has been diagnosed with Stage IV ovarian cancer. She's 32 with a 5 year old. I have no problem forking over some cash to help them out in anyway possible. So I don't totally hate the concept.

I agree with you that it has some great uses but it is also abused, like anything else.
