I'm 33 so I'll assume I'm a millennial.

My issue is that it is becoming common place for people to depend on others so they can do things they can't afford. They almost expect the burden to shift to "the crowd". It used to take a village to raise a child, now it takes a wedding party to go to Fiji.

If someone offers to let you use a condo or gifts you some airline miles I would expect them to be a very close friend or most likely family. Even so I would never ask for something like that.

If they are truly dependent upon it, then I agree with you. But, from what I've seen, it's mostly being used to offset costs.

I'll be honest - I would prefer to give a couple cash that they could use for whatever they wanted, as opposed to actually purchasing some fricking dishes or towels that might get used twice a year.
