HALF-TIME
Ghana 2-0 Equatorial Guinea
What a devastating couple of minutes at the end of that half. The Ghana players are still out on the pitch as they are unable to make their way down the tunnel, with bottles being thrown on to the pitch from the stands. Eventually they have to hide under riot shields as they are escorted off the pitch. Mad scenes.

"There are more bottles being pelted off the pitch, the referee is being pelted. Water bottles are flying all over the place. The home fans have reached fever pitch - nobody wants to see this. They are being escorted off with the help of riot shields."
And that added to this...
quote:
Africa Cup of Nations referee Rajindraparsad Seechurn has been banned for six months for his performance in Equatorial Guinea’s controversial 2-1 win over Tunisia in the quarter-finals.
Seechurn, from Mauritius, awarded hosts Equatorial Guinea a penalty in the last minute of the match, which Tunisia were winning 1-0.
...
Tunisia players and officials angrily confronted Seechurn at the end of the match, and their federation was later fined $50,000.
...
Seechurn has been removed from CAF’s elite referees list but African football’s governing body has also demanded evidence from Tunisia which supports their claims that the officials were “questionable and biased against Tunisia in general.”
Tunisia football boss Wadie Jary resigned from his position in CAF after the game.
ETA: Match suspended with Ghana up 3-0 in the 82nd minute.

"My colleague Nick Cavell has been coughing having felt the effects of tear gas. The situation is more contained than it was but we still have had Ghana fans below us been attacked."
ETA2: Match back on for some reason. Apparently crazy outside the stadium:

"The Ghana fans are marching out of the stadium - it is a sight to behold. There is a big plume of tear gas - the tear gas is spreading to the middle and up towards the back corner. The supporters are diving for cover. It's the clear the authorities have moved in with force. One fan has jumped over the wall and landed on an ambulance - that's a 20 foot drop."
ETA3:
Punishments handed down

Game's about to be abandoned

Ghanaian supporters are getting escorted behind the goals for safety, but it's making them a giant target.
Play's been halted with Ghana up 3-0.

This is nuts. I hope they kick EG out of the next competition.

According to the Eurosport commentators, there are a bunch of EG fans outside the stadium ready to attack the Ghanaian fans and players.

There are only about 5 nations that should ever host this tourny
South Africa, Ghana, Cameroon Nigeria and maybe the Ivory Coast.
Only reasons its in this shite hole right now is b/c the original host got kicked out.
