Jesus, no offense but that doesn't really sound like a vacation. I prefer to be pampered when I travel.
to each his own but I much prefer to travel cheaply, mainly so I can travel more. But I generally go on 3-4 week vacation vs. 10 days.
Even if I didn't, I would still prefer it this way. When you pamper yourself, you lose a bit of the experience of visiting a different country.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Believe me I don't get short changed on travel when it comes to quality or quantity. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

This. Wife and I can do 3 weeks in Europe for under $5k + flight....so $8k. We always rent an apt in a neighborhood rather than stay in a hotel so we can get a taste of the way the locals live. And since we have an apt w/ a kitchen we can eat breakfast or lunch there if we want and save money. When we do eat out, we rarely eat in the tourist zones. You save a lot of money by eating where the locals eat.....and I can't stand being in a bar or restaurant with nothing but tourists.
