I feel like there are tons of options tonight.
Augustin will probably be owned by everyone in 50/50s, the way he's played lately, you can't miss a near min guy with 40+ potential, he's gone over 40 in 3 of his last 5 games on the site I play.
Westbrook is another must at PG if KD is out. I'll probably take both PGs, and I won't gain any ground at this position, but it alleviates the risk of losing a lot of points by going contrarian, which is pointless in a 50/50 IMO.
Whiteside will also get heavy ownership.
Other guys I like are Motiejunas, he's been very consistent lately.
At SG/SF, I have 3 guys in line for my final 2 spots, Hayward/Kawki/Tyreke. I like all 3, Tyreke is probably a lock. Hayward has high upside, but is a bit inconsistent, and Kawhi has looked good but could get limited minutes if there is a blowout. I'll probably steer clear of Hayward just because he's going up against MEM.
Brandon Bass is a guy who I haven't wanted to roster his last 2-3 games, but it's tough to pass up, because he'll give you enough value and at his price, it allows you more flexibility elsewhere.

DFS basketball is a cruel bitch. Last week I could do no wrong, stayed in the money. This week everything I touch turns to shite.
I just don't trust Augustin. There's a reason why he's been a journeyman. Every time I've used him he's been a dud. Every time I don't use him he goes ham. Same thing with Amir Johnson. With Augustin I'll probably just wait for another bad game then jump on him.
Anyways, here are some of my early thoughts, these are based on the GPP format; I'm liking the upside of some of the backup SGs tonight, namely Thornton and Meeks, as both of those teams are on the second of back-to-backs and should be going a little deeper into their benches. Those are strictly value picks though. I like Pierce vs ATL as the Wizards tend to lean on him more vs good teams.
I think the opposite of Heyward, shel. His usage rate is excellent and there's really not many other options around him. Burks is out and Burke is in and out of the starting lineup. His consistency is not great but it's not horrible. He's one of those that's consistently underrated because of the flashy options at his position like Lebron and KD.
At PF, going with Randolph and Pau Gasol. I don't want to roster Whiteside at C but I will have to for at least one roster because of the matchup.

I just don't think you can pass up on Augustin, assuming he's as cheap on all the sites as he is on the one I play on. 40+ in 3 of 5 games for basically min price, you can't miss out on that IMO.
quote:Well, I do think he'd be the best of the 3 options I mentioned for GPPs, fwiw. He has the most upside. But with 50/50s, I strive for consistency, and his low totals seem to be lower than a guy like Tyreke over the last 10-15 games or so.

I've been out of the game for about 3 weeks now. Might get back in it tonight.

Biggest NBA GPP of the year on FD if that's your thing. $600k prize pool.

Rose is only $100 more than Augustin. Drose has treated me well this season.

Haven't looked hard at the player pool tonight but, if I can find a few good cheap options, I'll go Westbrook AND AD in my GPPs on Draftkings. Westbrook without KD (who has already been ruled out for tonight) is always a must play, imo, and AD has averaged something like 65 fantasy points against OKC this season in two meetings.
I'll be studying up on some cheap options like OJ Mayo & Dudley vs the Lakers tonight. OJ had 5 straight games with over 26 fantasy points until his last game (he was on pace to do it again in his last game but got ejected early). Dudley has been over 26-plus in three straight with his added minutes. Both can be had on Draftkings for around $4500.
I like Kevin Martin too against Miami. On Draftkings he is $5500 salary.
And I like Jonas Valanciunas as a cheaper center tonight VS Brooklyn. He has 30-plus points in three out of last four games and has averaged 32 against the Nets in their two meetings so far this season.

What are y'all thoughts on Middleton?
Posted on 2/4/15 at 5:16 pm to Walt OReilly
Middleton is about as consistent as anyone with his nightly fantasy scoring. He is a solid mid-tier play that you can pretty much pencil in for 25 points per night, give or take a couple. But he is limited too and rarely gives you a big game (although he did hit in mid-40's last game).
Floor is probably 25 points. Ceiling is probably 35 points when he gets a good match up. You can probably put him in the 28-32 range tonight.
He is probably better as a safe 50/50 mid tier play than a GPP play since you can never predict when his occasional big game will come.
Edit: Just looked it up. He has averaged 28 PPG on Draftkings over his last 10 with four 30-plus point games in that span.

I think that's why I've done so well on FantasyUp, they seem slower to their price ranges. The minimum price there is $5500, and Augustin is $5700.
Posted on 2/4/15 at 7:55 pm to shel311
Minimum is $3,500 on fanduel. Augustin was $3,800 the first night and he feasted. He was $6,000 by his second or third game.
Hassan Whiteside is now at $7,400. Still a bargain. I miss the days of him at like $5,500.

Burned by Augustin again. Hate that guy.

Went Rose in one league and Augustin in the other.
Whiteside is a must play at basically any price.

On FantasyUp, it's 10 players/$100k salary. Minimum salary is $5500, and even Whiteside is only at $7500 on that site, so he's just as expensive as FD, which obviously has a way lower cap. Same with Augustin, he's at $5700, making both of them must plays every time out, especially in a 50/50.
I also found a 50/50 with tons of overlay last night, so i made my biggest bet to date, and promptly lost. 2 straight losing nights for the 1st time in about 5 weeks, but they were big dollar amounts, so that one hurt.

I'm super contrarian by nature, and definitely in DFS.
I haven't played much Whiteside and it's been killing me this past week. I try to avoid heavily owned players like the plague. Sometimes it works beautifully, but when someone like Whiteside is streaking it buries you beneath everyone. That's the life of the contrarian DFS player.
Whiteside's bubble is only getting bigger. They all burst eventually. The times I've hit it big in GPPs is when highly owned players dud out. So that's the day I'm waiting for. I think Pop will look to frustrate him on tomorrow.

I played Whiteside and Westbrook last night so did everyone else. However, I would have lost if I did not start them (unless I put Curry in there). They combined for 113.

I know. That's a case where you have to take players in self-defense, just to keep up with everyone.
I generally hate doing that though. Like I said, I'm strictly a GPP player so there are times where fading those guys works like a charm.

I just take the guys I think will do the best. I don't give a shite about anyone else. I also play way more on gut feelings and do not look at data like lines, matchups, etc. I am just a causal player though. I deposited $25, and I am still sitting right around there.
