John Taylor only had one stud season with Montana. 1989. His only other 1,000 yard season was 91 with Young.
Welker had five 1,000 yard seasons, brown had the stellar 1,000 yard 2001, Edelman topped 1,000 last year and had 972 this year. But don't let stats get in the way

Welker had five 1,000 yard seasons
All of them with Brady and the Patriots. Before Welker got to New England the only thing people thought about him was that he was a good return man. Brady made him into a star. Since going to Denver there has been a notable drop off in his production. Perhaps it's injuries, perhaps it's age, but the man has not been the same since leaving New England.

Which turned out to be his first and only 1,000-yard season, and he had been with the Patriots since 1993. Is it a coincidence that Brady was throwing to him?

Edelman topped 1,000 last year and had 972 this year.
He was a perennial back-up player with the Patriots until Welker's departure. He had been with the franchise since '09 and hadn't distinguished himself enough to get significant playing time up until last year. Edelman's stats are a byproduct of a lack of options. Not skill.

But don't let the fact that Taylor was the 2 and big play guy for that team. Taylor was a better player returned all kicks and had RB who had over 800 yds usually rushing and receiving each.
Also Walls, Frank, and jones were getting huge numbers at the time for the era.
