OP has made it painstakingly obvious who the player in question is, and he absolutely played in the bowl game.
I didn't have the good fortune to play a sport at lsu, but 2.0 is good standing for everything else and I assume it is for sports as well. At a minimum.

It's been stated many times there are a dozen reasons other than GPA. People freaking out over nothing.
