Only the 15th career win at Memorial Gym. Our SEC champion Tigers of 1991 could not even beat Auburn up there in the 1st round of the SEC tourney and that gym was always a factor for that.
Georgia saw how tough Vandy was, as well as UK.
A win is a win is a win.

The number one team in the country escaped with an 8 point win at home against this same Vandy squad after leading by only 4 points with 2:30 left.
Kentucky also beat Columbia (9-7) by 10.

Few balls bounce their way and their a undefeated team.

Been following LSU basketball since the days of Pistol PETE and totally agree with you. Some of the more talented teams at LSU have left Vandy with a loss. OT or not , a win at Memorial Gym during any year is a good win.

Winning two SEC road games in a week is huge no matter how you look at it.

Jesus Christ. We were 4 point underdogs in this game. We were supposed to lose.
Did you watch the game 9. Do you really think having watched some of the mind numbing passes and unforced errors we made that it really should have been that hard.
To me a Vegas spread is irrelevant. Watch how the game is unfolds. It should NOT have been that hard last night. It did not have to be.
I think sometimes we rationalize more than we need to out of our loyalty and fandom. I doubt very many basketball folks considered this win by us an upset.
I am happy we won, but I just want to see this team start to get a handle on some of our repetitive issues that IMHO are fixable, so that we can get the most out of our abilities down the line. Tha's all.
Geaux Tigers!!

Some very talented teams have gone to Vandy during the recent years and found it hard to win. Nationally ranked Baylor escaped with a three point win this year. Why would anyone think LSU beating them on the road wouldn't be hard?

Sagarin was impressed. He jumped LSU up from 57 to 47 after the Vandy win.

Almost unheard of and it seems like everyone is bitchy.
My big take away was not quitting, we took two huge Vandy runs and didn't freak out and chipped away, that's progress.
We have to keep getting better but this is the kind of team at an 8th or 9th seed that could absolutely destroy a bracket.

exactly
i said this last night in another thread. last year's team would've lost that game and many others that we've pulled out this year.
you can see they're growing up as the season progresses.

Yes, I did watch the game. And yes, we did make some mind-numbing passes and unforced errors. You know why? I'll let you in on a little secret: we aren't that good. We're better than we were last year and, if we put it all together, can upset a team here and there. But at a fundamental level, we are like another other decent but not elite team- inconsistent and at times prone to turnovers and lapses in scoring.

That's too bad. It's a good indication of what the rest of the unbiased money thinks of the two teams involved. If I see my team is an underdog on the road and we win, I'm pretty happy.

I think this goes the other way, too. I root hard for the Tigers and watch every game. I want us to go 32-0 but I know we're a flawed team. You say a lot of these issues are fixable but probably everyone outside of the top 10 teams in the country are struggling with poor passing, bad decisions, suspect coaching at times. In other words, the other 290+ Div-I teams struggle with inconsistency too.

Finally, something we can agree on. Listen, I enjoy watch LSU basketball and I'm so glad they're relevant in the SEC again. My first instinct after an overtime win on the road as an underdog is to celebrate- not come on to a message board and vent my frustrations about a poor performance.

It's all relative 9. I just want us to be as good as we can be. The fundamental errors that keep happening over and over and over are frustrating and keeping us from putting games away we really should.

And the teams that deal with it best play to their capability. That's what I want 9. That's all.

I did celebrate after we won, very boisterously.
I vent because I care. The frustration sometimes get the best of me. But it's always Geaux Tigers, and always will be.
