I think it is a matter of procedure. If you normally shave first, you can start soaking the brush and do a couple of other things (i.e. brush your teeth, etc.) - I can still be done in about 20 minutes, unless I'm doing a full 3 passes, with buffing. Now, I have a fairly coarse beard - not only was it difficult/unpleasant shaving with the cartridges - I rarely got even a "B" grade shave. In fact, my first half dozen wet shaves were comparable to or better than the 10 best twin/triple/quatro/octo, etc. cartridge shaves over the previous 25 years.

As an added bonus, the shave still looks/feels okay 10 to 12 hours later, so I can shave the night before in all but a handful of circumstances (I shave in the morning if I'm going to be in uniform, for example).
