A Gillette Mach II is a much more "new-fangled" razor than any of the DE ones listed above. DE blade shaving is significantly cheaper than cartridge shaving.

Yea, I don't know the shaving nomenclature. Straight razors I guess?...but feathers? what the hell do you do with that? It all sounds very metrosexual.

DE = Double Edge. Pic below. Feather is a brand of Japanese-made stainless steel razor. The same company engineers surgical tools unless I am mistaken. It's simply a brand. Much of the discussion also includes shaving cream/soap that must be applied with a brush. For the most part, it's cheaper per shave to use than what you would probably think of as the traditional canned stuff. Exception is Barbasol. This stuff, in general, is also a bit slicker and makes a shave easier/better than canned gels, usually. It also comes from a wide variety of unscented to sandalwood, various fruits, almond, I even saw one the other day from Bathouse Soaps that was Tobacco and Whisky or something like that. Could it be considered unmanly to shave with. Lemon lime scent? Sure. But it's cheaper, better, and longer lasting.
