I dipped for 15 years and got up to a can and a half of Cope everyday for the last 5 years. I had leukoplakia that the Doc thought was cancerous and had a biposy, was put on Wellbutrin and other medications to help me quit and I never did. Nothing worked period.
10 years ago, I looked at my wife before bed and said this is my last dip and I am quitting. I discarded the empty can (I used to dig in the trash after previous quitting attempts to find half full cans). I went to bed that night with my gums feeling like old wilted pieces of leather and my wife doubting me once again.
I stuck to it, had the jimmy legs every night for three nights and acted like a little slap happy teenage bitch. Not sure what made me do it after so many failed attempts that included a cancer scare and prescription meds, but I did it and I am so happy I am free of that massive addiction. I go hunting and fishing with friends who dip and do not even miss it.
Good luck OP, if you want it then you will do it.
I hate reading stuff like this. Scares the crap out of me.
I dipped Cope for a long time, and switched to Grizzly snuff a few years ago. Been going at roughly 1/2 can a day since I was in high school. Pushing 15 years now. I hate it, but I love it at the same time. Made it quitting for 2 months before, and then my dad had a heart attack and I stayed with him for about a month and a half before the stress of the situation influenced me to start back. I want to want to quit. But like many others have said, it has become an association with almost EVERYTHING I do. Driving, reading, hunting, golfing, tinkering, mowing, etc. It frickin sucks, and I wish I had never started

I want to want to quit

You sound like you want to quit beHop. I dipped all day. Cope like I said in my post and I would also put smaller dips in the back and sit in board meetings with a dip in and no one could tell - yes, I could swallow (insert joke). Say an earnest prayer, grab your balls and man up to the addiction - you can quit, it is not worth it.
