I am completely the opposite; you get more for your other players, when your guy is an impact player on the offensive end. A defensive backstop is nice, but give me the guy that gets your average and below rotation players open shots because of the contortions he causes NBA defenses, every time.

I think you aren't realizing the impact bad defense can have. If the player you are guarding becomes great each night, that's a problem.
