OTOH, just like in the economy, there are always doomsayers predicting calamity. Eventually something bad does happen, and they say "see, I was right all along!"

Agreed. IE, if you predict it will rain long enough, eventually, it does.

But, I can tell you that I was on message boards for the Dinardo era and it fit my synopsis perfectly. Nowadays, even the most positiger on here will claim he knew Dinardo was going to fail.

And yet, back then, that era's version of "pumpers" was just as common and all of the arguments were pretty much the same.

Keep in mind, many of the loudest Anti-Miles "fans" on this board are guys who have been clamoring for the man's head since he blew a 21-0 lead against Tennessee in the wake of two of the most devastating natural disasters in the area's history while the PMAC was functioning as a make-shift relief center and R&B Legend Fats Domino was sleeping on our starting QB's couch. Serious, well educated, highly regarded people I know well and who are well connected within TAF and beyond were, seriously, calling for the man to be FIRED after that loss.

That's not a joke, it's not hyperbole...it happened.

Now...we're 10 seasons into the Miles era. Won a National title, played for a second, won two SEC titles, played for 4 and had the longest run of sustained success in the program's history. I ask you...were those clown right? Even if the wheel do fly off, does the fact that they eventually rightly called "the collapse" a decade prematurely make them correct?

I'd say no...but the mileage of others clearly varies.
