Tow ratings, hp/tq numbers, mpg. It's all the same. Just arbitrary numbers used to sell trucks
It would be really nice if they started dyno'ing trucks at the tires to get actually power numbers. I know I'm putting down more power with my 4.10s than someone with 3.42s, but no one would ever know if they didn't know about gearing. I also know I'm gonna get much worse overall mileage. We're talking about the higher gears getting 13/14mpg and lower getting around 10
