Would you promote one of your 72 employees with numbers like that?

There are many more factors I would take into account. Those production numbers you reeled off are not a sole reflection of the position coach. Players are responsible for their play as well. Why hasn't hunter produced at the level that Mingo had as a Tiger? Who's fault is that?
Haley? maybe
Hunter's? maybe
or maybe Mingo had a better work ethic

Is Haley at fault for D line exodus. he was working with a true frosh DT who was coming off of an ACL and 1st year full time starter at the other DT. I'd take that and alot more into consideration.

Your deviating from the OP though. lets stay on track

Mingo had 15 sacks in his career. For comparison, Myles Garrett had 11.5 in 2014.

IMO, yes. I agree that we shouldn't look at a single player or two.

Rather, it's his track record form '09-present that underwhelms. Our DL has rarely gotten pressure in and of itself in any of those years.

And surely he has input on who we sign as DL. If we're forced to play a true Fr at DT when there are multiple more experienced players on the roster (Bain, Gilmore, Johnson, Herron) ultimately that's on Brick.

So yes, it is also Haley's fault. Not one DL on the field last year played at a high level. They all have poor work ethics? Sounds like a coaching issue if it's across the board.

These are his guys. He isn't keeping them though this isn't what makes him an average position coach.

Absolutely. Our DT's weren't good last year either. He recruits and coaches these guys. So yes, it's his fault that the only guys he has ready to play is a 1st year starter, a true freshman off an ACL, and a guy with 1 arm. Says to me he is a poor talent evaluator and a poor coach. These guys are 4 and 5 stars, at least half of them should be good.

How the hell did I deviate? You said we are not aware of Haley's qualifications and I countered that with his actual qualifications. He is responsible for the Defensive Line. They were not up to par this year or last year. Nobody seems poised to break out going into next year.

If it turns out to be Haley, fine. Obviously no one here has any say in the matter. Maybe Chavis was holding him back and this turns out to be Miles greatest move. Time will certainly tell, though the numbers are against him.
