This is a good point.
Oregon has some great continuity going all the way back to Rich Brooks, the last head coach Oregon hired from without. Every coach since Brooks (hired way back in 1977) has been promoted from OC to Head Coach.
The Ducks have come a long, long way since 1977. Obviously Phil Knight and Nike play a huge role. But they are rare in the relative stability the program has had for decades at the head coach position.
They've found their niche and stuck with it. I'm a fan of their in state rival but I have tremendous respect for what they've accomplished.

I really like Mark Helfrich. He seems like a genuinely good guy.
