They've already increased school property taxes by 75% so they probably believe it might be a harder sell to ask for more even though a 1% increase in sales taxes will mean Zachary will have a 10% sales tax rate which would be the highest rate in EBR Parish.

Zachary residents can just drive to the Wal-Mart in Baker rather than shop at the one in Zachary.

Are they having problems with their school budgets? Since we have moved to Texas, I like have the smaller ISD model. It seems more efficient and most property taxes go to the ISD. I know that not everything is roses here, but cost of living and school system(s) seem better overall.

Right..wouldn't it now be 11% in the Americana retail district if this passes? Yikes.
