There's a historic drought going on in texas. Couple that with the fracking boom and most of the lakes in the western 2/3 of the state are mud puddles.

Yeah but water can be treated. Maybe it's a cultural thing in Texas where it's just not a priority. It's kind of disappointing, I guess.
Sure you can filter your drinking water but the idea of bathing in greenish water, brushing my teeth with it, etc and having it coat/crust up everywhere is unappealing.
I've lived all over and have come to appreciate the good water that BR has. The water out west from drought areas is not that great but it's always super clear and never muddy or algae'd. My complaint about that water is that the processing they do to it leaves a chlorine-like taste in the water but it was still great for being out of reservoirs.

It's always tasted like arse to me for the entirety of the 28 years I visit, including yesterday. It tasted the same. To be fair, Southern Louisiana has notoriously tasty tap water.
