Your Narrative may have resonated outside the Liberal Fever Swamps a generation ago. Alas your analysis is stale.

The Democratic Party circa 2014 does little more than TAX the working middle class. Obamacare was the big wake-up call for white working class people. That is not a thesis, that was proven in the 2010 and 2014 midterms. They have essentially abandoned them in favor of a client-base that is comprised of little more than Coastal elites and minorities.

quote:

GENTRY LIBERALS. The great raison d'être for left-wing politics – advocating for the middle- and working classes – has been refocused to attend more closely to the policy imperatives and interests of small, highly affluent classes, as well as the powerful public sector.-Joel Kotkin,

I am suggesting that Racial unrest may have a similar cultural effect on white working class people that causes them to run even faster from The Democrat Party that seems to be sponsoring it. I can't prove this, but it seems to be a logical reaction by the white working class electorate. It may even have the power to create new voters.

Obviously Dems have some burgeoning demographic advantages that are apparent in Presidential election years. But that advantage is muted significantly, if working class whites go to the polls and Democrats have an "average" candidate that fails to excite the minority base like Obama did.
