Russell Shepard is that the talented player that LSU had that the fan base was crying to get the ball to him more?// And the Sunshine pumpers were crying he was overrated & that's why Miles don't use him.//// Just another kid with NFL talent that went thru LSU under Miles with little to show for it

All that NFL talent. It's netted him all of 3 catches for 40 yards in three years in the league. WTF was Les thinking?
And what's the deal with the forward slashes

Can't be an AA if your not used !!! AND by the way LESS Miles has been accused of a lot of things but THINKING is not ONE

So he doesn't qualify as an NFL player? He does not receive NFL paycheck? Do you know the % of college players that make the NFL? 2% The chance of an American making the NFL? .000006%. And you are downplaying Shepard's accomplishment? Amazing!
And of course a large number of "fans" argued that he would never make an NFL team. I am sure you were in that group. Thus the "only 3 catches for...".

Not only that, but ZereauxSum has inaccurate numbers.
Shepard just finished his 2nd year in the league. Also, RS is a top ST player in the NFL. Going into today's game he was tied for #11 in the NFL in Total Special Teams Tackles.

Good grief. How about reading the thread and understanding the context of it before replying in it?

I stand corrected. 3 catches in 2 years it is.

Which is awesome, but that isn't what this particular thread is about is it?

The thread is complete bullshite, as I've already shown, because it was Shepard's idea to move to receiver.
He did not develop very well during his time at LSU. In my view, some of that was on RS, and some of it was on the coaching (I won't put a number on it, but I think it was more of a coaching issue).

What does the context have to do with you downplaying Shepard's accomplishment of earning a position on an NFL team? And how does the number of catches he has made relate the the context? Please enlighten me oh sage one.

There's that word again DEVELOPE. It sure seems like that is said about a lot of players that plays under Miles, especially on offense.

You can't use the Miles doesn't develop NFL wide receivers argument anymore.

I've seen a few of them attempt to justify 1/9/12 by saying they would rather win a conference championship than a national championship.
In 20 years bcs titles will be laughed at. SEC titles stand the test of time. There is no subjectivity with a sec title. Coaches and players have no control over making the bcs or playoff.

About what? Does he not have 3 career catches?

The OP prompted the responses of several "Miles ruined his career" posters. Those are the people I was replying to so I'm really not sure what your beef is with me.

If you can't understand that my intent wasn't to come here and bash Russell Shepard, then there's nothing I have that's worth saying to you. Sorry.

He had a catch for 10 yards vs. the Saints today.

My issue was that you were sarcastically marginalizing Shepard's NFL career. RS is a hard-core ST player in the NFL, with potential to play a larger role as a receiver, and he was good with the ball in his hands during his LSU career (and had potential to play a larger role in the offense). I'm sick of seeing snarky posts about him.

it's about wins and losses and in that regard, only 1 coach is better than miles since '07. basically the greatest coach of all time.
BUT BUT BUT we should have won more national championships. just look at the rivals stars. OMG we're a run first offense. CRIMINAL.

Again, that wasn't my intent. I was not being sarcastic when I said his ST play has been awesome. He has been great at it.
I'm not really sure how else to respond to people who insist on saying that Miles ruined Shepard's NFL career.
