JaxTiger10 - again, we are talking about on Jan 1 2005. Not historically. What programs would you have ranked above LSU at that time and based on what?

Based on the results Maimi was clearly the best on the field leading up to 2005. But constant NCAA stuff hovering around that program and sub-par facilities probably wouldn't have made it top 5 by then. And it unraveled right after that.

There is a difference between a top job and a top program. For example. Oregon is a top 5 program but its not realy a top 5 job because of its lack of top prospects in state. A programs history has an effect on whether its a top 5 program. Just because you win 12 games two years in a row doesn't make you a top 5 program.
Lsu lost 4 games in 2000,3 games in 2001, 5 games in 2002,1 game in 2003, and 3 games in 2004. Thats not a top 5 program. If a program wins 10 games in back to back years but its the only time theyve won 10 games in 30 years. That matters
