But you blame his recruits [seniors] for the 2008 season????
I blame his recruiting for the 2008 season. The guys that should have been here and weren't.

This. A top 5 job and a top 5 program isnt the same thing.

Are you really this stupid?????
OK RP was the greatest roll model LSU could have had and Miles handled the 2008 team perfect. The reason they went 8-5 was because of Sabans recruits.........

In 05 LSU was talked and mentioned much more on ESPN shows such as PTI, Mike and Mike, Around The Horn, than it is now, YES, LSU was a top 5 job. LSU was a shooting star from 2001-2005 which leveled off and declined and stayed on this mediocre course since Miles took over. If not for the all the great resources, such as talent and facilities that Saban was having built, Saban would have not turned down 6 NFL jobs before talking The Miami job which he regreted. LSU YES a TOP 5 job and hired a top 40 coach. RIDICULOUS, 10 YEARS and this MAN, MILES has still not recruited or developed a QB. S A D

This. A top 5 job and a top 5 program isnt the same thing.
I see what you are saying. A better way to put it is this:
Top Historical program - records, brand, achievement all time. Recruiting base, current slump, etc would be irrelevant. An example would be Nebraska, Michigan.
Top Program - (currently) recent on field results/achievements, current roster, recruiting base, facilities. An example would be Oregon.
Top Job - could be lacking in recent achievement or could have historically under-achieved but based on all other factors has tremendous upside. An example could be Texas A&M right now maybe?
There is an ebb and flow to this but I would still say based on recent success (2 conf titles and a NC), recruiting base, current roster, etc.... that LSU was a top 10 job at the time for sure and IMO right around 5 when Miles got here. I still think it is in that ballpark today. The brand is probably stronger overall since the program has been in the limelight for now going on close to 15 years.

You mean the Bama game where Flynn threw 3 picks and Hester had 2.9 ypc?
They were both solid yet unspectacular

Hester saved the Bama game by running down the Bama player heading toward the end zone.. BUT YES ets give ALL the credit for any win in 2007 for Miles and HIS recruits... NONE of the Saban recruits did anything to help that team win a NC...........
