Do a lot of places close on Easter?
Would your parents celebrate the anniversary of your life more so on your death or birthday, if you were to die?
that's why Christmas is bigger.

Places generally close on Sundays? I don't get what you're saying here.

Would you feel better if everything was open on Christmas and closed on Martin Luther King Day?

It's a tradition with significant meaning to most Americans whether the meaning is based on a Christian faith or just spending time with loved ones. We used to treat other holidays like thanksgiving with the same respect if you will. We may soon treat Christmas like those holidays but I don't see why one would advocate doing so...
...in short...it's the last real national holiday standing...can't we just leave it alone...everyone has to find some injustice in everything...

I think society is working toward just having all holidays roll into each other so there is a holiday every day.

Could you give an example of things that are closed on Christmas that aren't closed on Thanksgiving or New Years? I don't ever really go out looking for things on any of those days.

24 out of 25 grocery stores are closed tomorrow. WALMARTS are closed tomorrow.
All of the above open on thanksgiving.
