Amazon still uses Fedex/UPS for same-day. But two-day Prime shipping is almost all either straight-up USPS or something like Surepost which is UPS/USPS with USPS doing the last mile. They cut some kind of deal with the USPS that gives them lower rates and Sunday delivery but unfortunately means customers have to deal with random delays covered up with phantom "attempted deliveries." Combine that with the precipitous drop in two-day eligible items and Prime is mainly a streaming service with ancillary shipping benefits, rather than the other way around.

EDIT: I guess Jeff Bezos is lurking on TD I'm far from the only person to make this observation. LINK LINK LINK
