The Bollinger family decides to sell shipyard right after Mary Landrieu loses office. Coincidence?

Absolutely no coincidence whatsoever. Hopefully they rename the shipyard too to rid itself of the horrible reputation it justly received from those ships they built for the Coast Guard that made Sunfish sailboats look seaworthy.

Not related at all, that deal has been in the pipe for a long time.

Boyse Bollinger got most of his favors from being bestes buddies with George Bush and other republican big wigs. He was no stranger to flying in airforce one and was a regular at the Crawford, TX Christmas party.
The Mary support was just to hedge his bets a little. His future contracts did not depend on her.

I don't necessarily like the guy but didn't he sell it to a family member who has been an executive at the company for years??? What's the big deal?

There is a whole wide world out there where some people think about making money and not political ideology all day, I know, its frightening.
The first I heard of this asset sale was two years go and I'm not a corporate type. Its been rumored for awhile.

begging the question fallacy.
if I owned a business that relied on crony capitalism and shite like that, I'd damn well know which way the political winds were blowing.
but that is the debate.

do you guys really think it takes 3 weeks to come to a buyout agreement of this large a size? it takes a year and a half at the least.

Hopefully Cassidy charges him quadruple what Mary asked for to at least send a message that cynical support of the anti business democrats is not a good idea at all.

And you are correct, to a degree. This will wrankle some of you but uber contractors (like Bollinger) are above the political winds. I'm sure he and Cassidy have an understanding but even if they don't not sure what he (Cassidy)could do with Haley Barber (HB and BB are fast friends)in DC calling the shots.

A plan could have been discussed long in advance with the official signing contingent on the election right? Don't you think Bollinger could have killed the deal if he wanted before finalization?

Do you think Bollinger Shipyards is not going to make an absurd amount of money with two Republican Senators?
I think you're wildly overestimating how much Boysie Bollinger actually gives a shite about partisan politics.

I'm sure the boat contracts were renewable. Don't you think who has a hand in renewing them matters?

I'm not sure Louisiana has another shipyard big enough to handle the Coast Guard cutters.
Do you think Cassidy is going to be for shipping jobs out of state simply because Bollinger backed the incumbent?

Perhaps Bollinger felt a newbie Senator wouldn't have to stroke to procure the contracts even if he tried?

Dude, just give up. Please
You know nothing about Bollinger or the industry and you are just like a kid playing. On the Internet

Actually I was raised about 10 miles from Bollinger's and have relatives that presently work there. One of my cousins is a work foremen there.
I'm afraid it's you that doesn't know anything about what you are saying or about me for that matter.
