It's gone now, but what we are saying is take a dog down there and turn it loose where you last saw the deer go in the woods. Everybody walk around keeping an eye on the dog which should just be playing and sniffing around like a normal dog. If there is a dead deer within 100 yards of where y'all walk he'll likely find it, and want to chew at it or roll on it. Just being a dog in general...

Eta: Thus you'll have a greatly increased chance to find it by being smart with what you have to work with.

Also if you are comfortable with your shot (no jerking), go shoot your gun to make sure it is not off. That should be a good sign of if your deer was hit.
