It's only easy because Loomis set it up that way. It's easy to play with numbers that are there. Knowing how to set them up and how it all fits together in the big picture and in future years is very important.
Also there is the actual negotiations and trying to get these things in there.
Looking at a bad GM, the former Panthers GM made several bad contracts that are basically impossible to get out of. I looked at the numbers and there is no way to fix a lot of that.
Loomis does a great job of setting up the flexibility so we can do the things I'm saying.

which brings up a different question: what exactly do you want out of a GM?
Loomis is a master at manipulating the cap and setting up contracts. but his evaluations during the draft have been very subpar.
how do we get better on draft day if our GM is just pretty much specializes in the cap?
