Some of those ponds have pretty good water quality....

Some meh....most public bodies of water....meh

a good fresh native rainbow, or one that has been wild for a while is pretty good.

they don't freeze well.

Brookies are divine.


stocked farmed or pond raised trout are not very good.

fresh wild salmon are really good too. farm raised...not so much.

if you caught them in BR, they will probably have what is known as "off-flavor" which comes from the bluegreen algae that blooms from overfeeding and concentration of poop.
