You mean more of the SOS: Miles, Cam and their old style, predictable, unbalanced, run first, ultra slow play, Time of possession, low scoring offense has been buried by the SEC/FBS/NFL offensive revolution. A Dual Threat "Harris-type" QB with an NFL arm and quick feet operating from the shotgun is the lynchpin of modern offense. AJ is not improving and it is hurting recruiting in the massive shift toward shotgun-based offenses and multiple-receiver sets at every level. The NFL is pass first/pass second with 55-68% of plays being passes, 75% shotgun (avg) with 58% of plays having more than 3 WRs. Manning avgs 86% shotgun, Flacco 87% (2013) with the Eagles over 92%. Jennings stalled, regressed as the season went on. Over the last 4 games he had 3 TDs, 4 INTs, 3 fumbles, (20 sks on the yr), avg 10 completions, (40/85 = 47%), 11 pts/game and ranked from 126-128th in the FBS. Miles and Cam are too much alike coming from the same old school that thinks prostyle is under center with I-formation and 2TEs blocking...too predictable and eschews the tactics of modern offenses. "The game has changed more in the last year than the last 25" Saban - he went shotgun HUNH and along with Kiffin and Sims he credits the modern tactics to saving his reputation and their season. In 12 games AJ had 104 completions (8/gm) and Harris who played the equivalent of 1 full game had 25 completions or 20% with an FBS high 10 ypa. Harris also finished with a 175 rating at the top of the SEC and Jennings finished with 115 at the bottom. In the last 10 games Jennings only managed 5 TDs, 1 each in 5 of the 10 games, none rushing even though he was the the 3rd leading rusher with 100 attempts. He got 1/3 of his rushing yds in the A&M game for a 2.8 ypa avg. Harris had 9 TDs to Jennings 10 in 1/12th the time. Harris had only 2 INTs, 2 sks, and set scoring records with Dupre in the State and blew it away in the NMST game with a 250 rating, highest in the nation on 7 for 7 scoring while Jennings had a -21 rating.

Um, you said

How did Mett do the year prior to leading the best offense we've had since Russell became a No. 1 pick?
The answer is that Mett in his first year was LIGHT YEARS better than AJ was this year. It wasn't even comparable. If AJ performed as well in 2015 as Mett did in his first year, it would be borderline miracle progress.

If Jennings improves at a similar rate as Mett, he will finish with ~ a 50% completion rate, 1800 yds, 8 ypa, 16 TD's and 10 Ints next year. :cantwait:

The topic should be how many games will we win next year with Jennings as QB. And everyone except the nutsac suckers know that should have been the question. Harris would only start if AJ loses one of his arms in the offseason. It might have to even be his right arm. Suck on you nutsac suckers!

Given the talent and experience at every other position, that stat line would probably result in an undefeated season

Dammit man, how dare you ? You are attacking the very heart of LSU football. What would make a much more interesting conversation is who is at fault with this dynamic offense that we were expected to enjoy. If anybody made $4 a year in the real world, and put a product like LSU's offense out to their stockholders and to the stock exchange , the company would be bankrupt you would be lucky to not get tarred , feathered ,and run out on town on a rail when you were fired.

I'm not sure you get what I'm getting. And no, those numbers would not lead to a NC. When the games on the line, a QB with those stats doesn't come through. We need better to win a championship.

Those numbers this year would have produced a 10-2 record and an SEC Championship

I get it fine. Jennnigs will likely never put up the numbers Mett did. We don't need him to.

I want a QB to take my team down and score a TD
I will let the coaching staff pick em

You're also not properly applying Mett's improvements: +6% completion % +18% yardage +83% TDs +40% yards per attempt.
Which would put Jennings at
54% completion, 1720 yards 9.66 ypa 18 TDs 10 INTs for next year

That's appropriate if they attempted anywhere near the same amount of passes. Mett had 7 ints on 352 passes in 2012. Jennings had 7 ints in 213. Skews all the numbers to a point that simple percentages are not effective. While we don't need Mett to win a championship, we do need a QB who is not the worst in college football. I don't think Jennings will be that bad again, but I have almost zero faith he makes that big of a jump in the offseason. He simply doesn't have the tools nor the feel of the game.

Not suggesting he will, but if he can improve slightly to a 2009 JJ level We'll be unbeatable

I can agree with this. I just think our best bet for that type of production is Harris. You think it's Jennings. Nothing wrong with disagreeing at this point of the year. Hopefully, if the starter struggles at a level we grew accustomed to this year, the next guy up gets an honest shot.

I asked which QB in the last 20 years had a state line for the YEAR like the one YOU frickING CITED.
As such, you failed.
Try again. Good luck. There has been NO TEAM to go to and win the MNC with a QB with a season stat line like the one you said was "all we needed". NONE.
