If Sony really does quash the movie entirely and prevent it from being seen on any format, then we'll know the hackers got something super dark and Sony is scared shitless.

That's what I think.

The safety angle sort of plays OK even if it is driven mostly by legal fears.

But, the only reason to kill it altogether is if the hackers are still holding shite over their heads that they deem worse than the backlash of killing the movie.

If that were the case, they could release it now

If Sony responds by releasing the movie, they look worse for only doing the right thing when it no longer mattered
