Read your links. Even the one with a local indicator requires it to be sent to a lab for verification.

Those do look like steps in the right direction.

The 24 hour urinalysis creatine test you mentioned earlier is fine but how do you administer it on the side of the road to someone suspected of DUI?

You do know breathalyzers are only "local indicators" too, right? They're supposed to allow the police to draw blood and that is the evidence.

Then states specifically modified the statutory requirement to specify the breath as sufficient, in which case those statutes could also be modified to do the same for saliva THC. Both would be bad science, but lots of DUI law is bad science.
