Luckily capitalism and the commercialization of Christmas will never really allow the removal of public Christmas displays. Many people want to see them.

In fact, many non religious people celebrate a form of Christmas. They exchange gifts and even put up decorations. It has become just as much of a cultural celebration as it is religious.

It's interesting because the history of Christmas shows that parts of it's celebration were purposely used to assimilate pagans. To some degree this is still going on today. However Christian groups still want people to be reminded why it is celebrated.

I think we need to take a step back and look at what the Christmas spirit does: it promotes peace and love. This time is often when people are most generous. It is true that some get caught up in unnecessary drama, but I think people focus on that far too much.

It's sad that it is no longer PC to wish someone a Merry Christmas.
