We've owned four boxers and I would placed their intelligence alongside almost any breed. A large component in measuring canine intelligence is their ability to recognize and obey orders at the first, second, third, etc command. My young Boxers were impatient, tempermental, and willful, but I'd be damned if they didn't mimick human behavior as well as any animal I'd been around (up to and including attempting to turn doorknobs and attempting to unlatch our gates). They were also extremely intuitive.
