If I'm thinking of the same woman, her last name was Thomas or Thompson. This was circa 1991. Her tests were brutal for a 1001 level course. I was happy to get out of her class with a B. I recall hearing she was put on probation or something for failing so many students but that may have just been a rumor.

Pretty sure about 5 or 6 years ago LSU had to step in and recalculate the grades of a massive, intro-level science class and canned the professor cause more than half the kids were failing. Maybe that's it? I'm too young to know who y'all are talking about

I've taught about 20 college classes. In most cases (and if you are teaching at a decent school), if your students are failing, it is because you aren't doing your job.
