There are things that we must experience in order to refine and perfect character. It is the painful duty - guided by THE WORD of Truth - for both Jesus and His Father to REMAIN HANDS OFF...lest they spoil our chance to offer something back to them...of OUR OWN. I would consider that offering...the highest form of worship.
Substitute Buddha or eastern religious thought for this. It is the same thing. You are a cosmic Christian. A Unitarian mindset. I agree completely. Religion is man just dressing up spirituality in it's own social, political garment depending on when and where. I understand there is negative and positive energy in the universe and we are destined to experience both in this particular incarnation into human form. You summed up your spiritual/religious/life philosophy earlier and I agree with that to a T. I grew up Southern Baptist and have a big problem with the fundamentalist closed minded mentality. It really pisses me off.

I've met a ton of folk in my 64 years, gt...and I am extremely quick to instigate serious conversation about Religion (concepts...as I'm not much on the dogmatic stuff). I have found that if one truly respects their traditions/beliefs, but not without due diligence in challenging them on murky points...and love the folk in that process...I have made a helluva lot of good friends who are glad to see me coming. Though they pretty much know what they'll get. Beats the hell out of being pissed off. I save that for bold-faced liars and head choppers; though both may be legitimate ways to finding out just which side one really belongs on.
Be well friend.
