Le Creuset enamel covered cookware. That's the best thing we got. It ain't cheap -- $300 or so for an 8 quart pot -- but that's the sort of thing parents, godparents or rich relatives can spring for. The pot we got from there, I use constantly.
Bed, Bath & Beyond has a good mix of stuff at a variety of prices. You need to look at a wedding as a chance to get an upgrade over the crap you bought when you got out of college -- if you want a new can opener or a toaster, go for it.

Oh I do trust me
Like I said I cook every night, for tailgates of anywhere from 100-200 people, and any other times. Most of my equipment is kept-up with but just a mixture of things that take the place of others.
